There is no additional charge for this visit. You can use any car to go near of crater. But if you want to go inside of crater, you must walk, it is not possible to use car.

Summer is ok too. Just make sure that you will reach the other far end where the trail going down is accessible. During our visit, we're not able to do so since my friends were kind a hesitant to take an extra mile. The view from the top is awesome but based on the pics I have seen online, the view once you're inside the crater itself is AMAZING!

The entire trip is fine in a sedan until THE LAST MILE. It is off road and the cery loose rock and so-so road condition ( March) could cause under carriage damage ... We were a caravan of Land Rover and coasters. We drove carefully and along the off road visible 'path' to the LEFT of the crater as you approach from the main road that leads you to and officially ends . I don't think I would drive a subcompact or compact car off road there due to the rocky terrain. That weekend, I saw pick up trucks & suv's. Good luck!
