Hi, I'll be in the area in a week or so. Is the trail suitable for road bikes? I realize it's not paved, and I've ridden my road bike on plenty of crushed stone trails that were just fine for me. It depends on the surface, how fine the crushed stone and how well it's covered. Thanks!

There are shuttles. Call the New River State Park. They run shuttles from there in-season. We went in April, prior to season and they connected us with a local bike and canoe outfitter. They ran shuttle for us for a fee. Nice people. We camped at New River Trail State Park and got shuttled up to Galax and then rode back to camp. We also got our canoe shuttled and did a paddle back to camp. I believe we used New River Outdoor Adventures.
