Amanda Anisimova claimed her first WTA 1000 title when she beat Jelena Ostapenko 6-4 6-3 in the final of the Qatar Open on Saturday which will see the American break into the top 20 for the first time in her career.

Amanda Anisimova has won the Qatar Open for her third career title and first since 2022. Anisimova beat former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 6-3 in a final disrupted twice by showers on Saturday.

Anisimova took the first set courtesy of two breaks, even though she had to recover from 2017 French Open champion Ostapenko reeling off nine straight points at one stage
