This Sunday most of us will lose an hour of sleep as we set our clocks one hour ahead to Daylight Saving Time (DST). There’s a movement afoot to do away with DST, a notion that has gained favor with President Trump and Elon Musk.

For the past four months, we’ve been on standard time. But overnight Saturday, we’ll turn our clocks ahead one hour at 2 a.m., effectively making it 3 a.m. (So don’t schedule any important meetings at 2:30 a.m., because that time won’t exist Sunday — and is not a great time for a meeting, anyway).

The American Medical Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine agrees and says sticking with standard time year-round aligns better with the sun — and human biology — for more consistent sleep.
