The race to make the U.S. Ryder Cup team is on, and a few players made big jumps up the standings at the British Open last weekend.
Xander Schauffele has bounced back from a poor start to rise into second place in the Ryder Cup standings. He'll be on Team USA. JJ Spaun's US Open win has all but secured him a spot, the first rookie on the projected team. But from there, the standings tighten up.
While both teams' Ryder Cup standings have taken shape, the British Open represents the final opportunity for golfers to gain big points and potentially secure a spot on their squads. Only two players have clinched positions in the 2025 Ryder Cup, so there is still plenty to decide.
DeChambeau's unreal final three rounds at Royal Portrush basically guaranteed him a spot no matter what happens in the next month. But this group is kind of fascinating -- English was on the 2021 team that won the Ryder Cup, Henley and Spaun would be rookies. You have to like having the world's best golfer on your squad.
