A big surge in the number of voter registrations in Colorado took place this month on the night of the presidential debate as well as on several of the days since.

Every state has a different deadline to register to vote in the upcoming general election on Nov. 5. Some states even allow for same-day registration on Election Day. Of course, you'll want to make sure your home state is on the list before you head to the polls. There's even one state that doesn't even register its voters.

Approximately 5,899 people registered to vote last Wednesday (the second-highest day this year for new voters). Another 5,759 voters registered Thursday (the third-highest day) and Friday saw 5,079 new voters (the fifth-highest day for new voters this year).
