Major League Baseball has fired umpire Pat Hoberg after he shared sports betting accounts with a professional poker player who bet on baseball.

Umpire Pat Hoberg was fired by Major League Baseball on Monday for sharing his legal sports gambling accounts with a friend who bet on baseball games and for intentionally deleting electronic messages pertinent to the league’s investigation.

Hoberg, who denied betting on baseball, said he took “full responsibility” for acts detailed by MLB, including sharing accounts at online sportsbooks with his friend.
