States scramble to send full SNAP food benefits to millions of people after government shutdown ends
State officials are working to restore full SNAP benefits to millions of people after the long U.S. government shutdown has finally ended.
South Carolina's more than 549,000 Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, recipients will see their federal food assistance benefits issued as soon as Friday, Nov. 14.
SNAP benefits will be put on some recipients' cards in South Carolina on Friday, the Department of Social Services announced Thursday. SCDSS will issue full SNAP benefits for the month of November 2025 to approved and qualified households including: Newly approved SNAP households whose benefits were authorized between Oct. 16 and Nov. 13.
Oregon residents who receive SNAP benefits have reported card skimming, with 41 incidents reported in Coos Bay in five days, resulting in stolen funds being fraudulently spent outside of Oregon.
