I finally set up Windows File History properly, and it saved a folder I'd deleted twice
File History kept frequent snapshots on an external drive every hour, preserving edits without duplicating files.
Microsoft wants you to use the cloud, but there are a lot of good options — including trusty old network file sharing and a little-known modern Windows feature. Remember the HomeGroup on Windows 7?
