Scotland’s “Flower of Scotland” rang out from The Tartan Army, who was concentrated in three sections at the southwest end of Hard Rock amid a yellow-clad sea of Brazilian fans. Their proud voices – and bagpipes – far outshone their small numbers, a fitting finale for their Scotland’s memorable World Cup showing.

The United States is celebrating its 250 birthday this year, so this will be a particularly memorable July 4 while the World Cup carries on. July 4, of course, is also a special day in the United States but this particular one comes during both the 250 anniversary of the country and during a World Cup in which the USMNT are playing well.
