SLAMABAD: Torrential rains in Pakistan’s Punjab province have killed at least 63 people and injured 290 in the 24 hours since downpours started on Wednesday morning.

Monsoon floods killed at least 54 people within a single day as heavy rains swept through the Punjab region in Pakistan. Dramatic footage shows several vehicles trapped in the raging deluge following torrential downpours.

Relentless floods have claimed the lives of more than 170 people in eastern Pakistan, about half of them children, in the latest catastrophe that underscores the country’s vulnerability to the escalating climate crisis.
