New Delhi: Sheikh Hasina, the beleaguered former Bangladeshi Prime Minister has claimed an attempt to assassinate her and her sister, Sheikh Rehana after she was overthrown following countrywide violent protests. She fled to India and is staying at a safe and confidential place.
A voice note of ousted Bangladesh premier Sheikh Hasina describing how she and her sister escaped death when she fled the country last August has been shared online by her Awami League party.
The former premier became emotional, saying, "I am suffering, I am without my country, my home, everything has been burned."

In an audio clip released on her political party's Facebook page, the Bangladesh Awami League, the former PM asserted that she narrowly escaped the attack by fleeing just minutes before it was set to occur.
Hasina, the 76-year-old former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, fled to India last August as student-led protests led to the toppling of her Awami League government.

India has extended the visa of ex-Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India amid protests, despite calls for her extradition by Dhaka.
Bangladesh interim government, led by Muhammad Yunus, stated that visa extensions are invalid once a passport is cancelled. This follows the revocation of passports for 97 individuals, including former PM Sheikh Hasina.
Sheikh Hasina claimed that there were ‘conspiracies’ at various phases of her life to kill her. ‘Allah wants me to do something more,’ she said.
