On Feb. 25, the White House announced it will launch an investigation into the importation of copper under Section 232 of the 1962 Trade Expansion Act.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — President Donald Trump is taking a step toward granting the U.S. mining industry’s biggest wishes by singling out one metal as a focus of his domestic minerals policy: copper.
"American industries depend on copper, and it should be made in America, no exemptions, no exceptions," Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said.
A Trump administration investigation into copper imports has led to an after-hours rise of 20 cents per pound in Comex copper’s value.
