The Pittsburgh Steelers should sign Darius Slay Jr. and James Bradberry after they were released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson thinks Eagles should build around young secondary and not bring in a veteran cornerback to replace Darius Slay
Philadelphia re-signed Zack Baun to a three-year extension and released cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry this past week. When the NFL free agency legal tampering period opens on Monday, the Eagles could lose other key free agents, including edge rusher Josh Sweat and offensive guard Mekhi Becton.
Bradberry, who was a second-team All-Pro in 2022 with the Eagles, struggled both with performance and injuries after signing a three-year, $38 million extension in 2023.
The Philadelphia Eagles just won the Super Bowl but the offseason isn't going to be all sunshine and roses. Philadelphia has already made a few tough decisions
The Eagles are also releasing Slay's cornerback partner in Bradberry, the NFL Network reported Tuesday. Bradberry, an All Pro opposite Slay in 2022, regressed in 2023. He spent last summer learning how to play safety before going on injured reserve with a lower leg injury. He stayed on IR for the entire season.
