Amazon Launches 4 New Echo Devices With Alexa+ AI
Digest more
Amazon has seen the power and potential of Alexa+, its AI-powered smart assistant, and is now launching a raft of devices to support it. Today, at the company's September 2025 devices event, the company unveiled several new Echo devices, with the Dot Max (pictured, right) leading the pack.
After years of false starts, Amazon may have finally nailed the hardware — and given Alexa the power to take the smart home to the next level.
A new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams are joining the Google Home lineup, along with a major upgrade with generative AI.
Features include zoom-and-crop up to 6x, three hours of 10-second event previews, and one-hour local storage backup for Wi-Fi dropouts. Gemini is said to be on hand to power smarter alerts for people, animals, and vehicles, alongside the usual Activity Zones, Familiar Face Alerts, and Garage Door Alerts.
Is Google doing itself a disservice by bringing so many Gemini features to its existing smart speakers, making a hardware upgrade less compelling?
