Gay Street Bridge will never again open to regular traffic, Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon announced on Wednesday.

The City of Knoxville gave an update on the status of the Gay Street Bridge Wednesday, nearly seven months since the bridge closed due to structural damage. The bridge will reopen for pedestrian use only by the end of this year or early 2026.
