More than 68,000 homes and businesses in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales are without power on Friday morning as Tropical Cyclone Alfred continues to slowly crawl towards the coast.
The south-east Queensland population is on high alert and holding its breath in the final hours before landfall, with fears of destructive winds, flooding and a billion-dollar bill.
Tropical Cyclone Alfred will continue its approach towards the south-east Queensland coast today, with the far western edge already impacting the coast from about Coolangatta to Ballina.
