The Cavs selected Garland with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft. Garland’s new teammate De’Andre Hunter was taken a pick of him at No. 4 by the Atlanta Hawks. Zion Williamson was taken first overall by the New Orleans Pelicans.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs' point guard Darius Garland paid homage to his father, Winston Garland during the All-Star 3-point Contest in San Francisco on Saturday night. Winston played in Golden State from 1987-90. Garland donned a black Cavs No. 22 jersey that had his father’s name on the back.

The Cavaliers came oh-so-close to adding another trophy to their collection on NBA All-Star Saturday night, but Darius Garland fell just short in the 3-Point Contest.
