Delta Air Lines Inc. will stop selling tickets under the “basic economy” label that many large carriers have adopted in recent years to compete with no-frills offerings of discount competitors.

Delta Air Lines on Thursday announced plans to shift its fare structure, with new branding for its various tiers of ticket packages launching Thursday, for flights scheduled for Oct. 1 or later.
