Even though the Padres have signed a pair of pitchers in recent days, Dylan Cease may not yet be on the way out of San Diego.

The San Diego Padres bought into the arms race in the National League West by signing right-hander Nick Pivetta to a four-year deal and adding free agent Kyle Hart.

“We approved John Seidler to be the control person of the San Diego Padres once he becomes the trustee of the Seidler trust,” commissioner Rob Manfred said Thursday from the MLB owners meetings. “We’re looking forward to continued stewardship of the Padres by a member of the Seidler family, that is really non-controversial.”
