VBPD is currently investigating a shooting that investigators confirm, has taken the life of an officer and seriously injured another.

One city police officer is dead and another person was seriously injured in a shooting after a traffic stop Friday night.

Police say the incident began as a traffic stop near the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and Wendfield Drive at around 11:30 p.m.
