Arlington, Va. – The Washington Capitals unveiled today a special 50th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Capitals jersey as well as Capitals Cherry Blossom merchandise available for purchase at the Team Store at Capital One Arena and Team Store at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

With the countdown to the bloom of Washington, D.C.'s beloved cherry blossoms in full swing, the Washington Capitals unveiled a special jersey Tuesday to ring in the iconic pink flowers and celebrate the team's 50th anniversary.

The Washington Capitals are celebrating D.C.’s iconic spring tradition with a dazzling new Cherry Blossom jersey that pays homage to the franchise's history.

Peak bloom is coming later this month, and so are cherry blossom-themed jerseys from the Washington Capitals. The franchise announced Tuesday that it will auction off a handful of signed specialty jerseys this month to raise money for community initiatives.

As winter slowly gives way to warmer temperatures, attention in metropolitan Washington D.C. turns to the blossoming of the cherry blossoms that ring the Tidal Basin near the National Mall. Originally a gift to the citizens of the city from Japan,
