Starmer and European allies to head to US to support Zelensky in Oval Office showdown with Trump
The show of unity comes amid fears Volodymyr Zelensky could be in for a repeat of his last tumultuous visit to the White House at the end of February
Sir Keir Starmer will join European leaders in presenting a united front with Volodymyr Zelensky at his crunch meeting at the White House with Donald Trump. The Prime Minister and six other political leaders will travel to Washington DC on Monday, with the aim of protecting Ukraine from having to submit to Russian land grabs as a price for peace.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is bringing with him to the the White House an extraordinary cadre of European leaders to show U.S. President Donald Trump a united front against Russia.
Sir Keir Starmer and five other European leaders will accompany Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Washington, in a major show of unity ahead of peace talks with Donald Trump. The Ukrainian war leader will land in the US as he returns to the White House after President Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
Mr Zelensky says he will once again push for a trilateral meeting between himself, Trump and Putin after he was excluded from the Alaska summit. The White House has released the official timetable for the day ahead. European leaders will arrive there at about 5pm BST (12pm EST).
