Venus Williams became the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match in professional tennis at age 45, beating Peyton Stearns -- 22 years her junior -- by a 6-3, 6-4 score at the DC Open.

Venus Williams returned to tour-level tennis on Tuesday, defeating Peyton Stearns 6-3, 6-4 at the DC Open and winning her first match in nearly two years.

Williams became the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match in professional tennis, trailing only Martina Navratilova, who was 47 in her last match in 2004.
