CB radio had been around since the ’50s, but truckers made it theirs in the mid-‘70s. Two-way radio, 23 channels, no real license needed. They used it to call out speed traps, dodge weigh stations, and talk each other through long hauls. Built their own language — Smokeys, chicken coops, hammer lane. It wasn’t a fad to them.
