Archaic aikido is excellent aikido. We always try it out when we contemplate contemporary solutions. Aikido grows, changes, evolves. Masatomi Ikeda Sensei defined genken kokyu nage as a different technique to other kokyu nage throws, and with good reason. He was an excellent teacher, one in a million. Because this technique, when executed in this manner, becomes very offensive and proactive. The point is, one cannot develop new approaches and possibilities if one doesn’t understand old technique
