🚨 Mt Mitchell Access Update 🚨 As of this morning, Mt Mitchell is accessible only via the Asheville side of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Highway 80 is still closed for road repairs. Trust me — I checked in person. ➡️ The Parkway is open from milepost 382 (Asheville) to milepost 355.3, which is the Ridge Junction Overlook/entrance area to Mt Mitchell State Park. Mount Mitchell State Park (elevation 6,684’) officially reopened on September 15, 2025, for the first time since Hurricane Helene. The reopening coincides with the Blue Ridge Parkway reopening between milepost 382 in Asheville and milepost 355.3, near the park entrance.
