In socialist Cuba, we witnessed a real alternative to homelessness. At the Quisicuaba Assisted Living Center, residents from among vulnerable populations participate in cultivating a dignified life for themselves and others despite the challenges created by the U.S. blockade. Within the U.S., homelessness has become a permanent feature of the capitalist system, and around 650,000 U.S. residents sleep on the streets on any given night.
