It's a vibrant port with a UNESCO-listed baroque city centre that was rebuilt from the volcanic stone of Mount Etna which devastated the city in the 17th century. The grey buildings made from the volcanic rock are unique to Catania. You can do guided tours to Catania however we just got the bus from Taormina and did our own.
