ANAHEIM -- By 1960, Gene Autry was long known as one of the most famous entertainers in the United States, earning his nickname “the Singing Cowboy.”His career started in the 1930s, as he appeared in 93 movies from 1934-1953 before hosting "The Gene Autry Show" on television from 1950-56.

The summer of 1947 was very exciting for Gene Autry. He filmed his first Cinecolor movie "The Strawberry Roan" in Sedona, Arizona in June and July. Then on August 28, 1947, Gene Autry was in a Hollywood, California recording studio with the Cass County Boys. They recorded three tracks, one of which was a song Gene was inspired to write while riding his horse Champion Jr. in the Hollywood Christmas Parade the year before. The song of course was "Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane
