This juvenile Common Tern was one of the many patients helped at our center this year! These shorebirds are on Long Island in the spring & summer months for their breeding season. Our beaches, barrier islands, & salt marshes provide ideal nesting spots. In fact, Great Gull Island, a small island on the eastern Long Island Sound, is a major research site & home to the world’s largest Common Tern breeding colony!
